Plan Your Clay Shooting Visit
Our shooting ground facilities provide somewhere to enjoy refreshments and take a break before or after your session. Whether you are visiting Guns & Clays for your first clay shooting experience, individual tuition or a group activity, planning ahead will help you make the most of your time with us.
If you are new to shooting, explore our clay pigeon shooting experiences in Cambridgeshire. For those who want to develop their technique, our clay pigeon shooting tuition offers individual guidance.
Check your booking confirmation for the meeting location, arrival time and any instructions for your session. If you are unsure about an arrangement, please contact us before travelling so we can help.
What to Wear for Clay Shooting
Clay shooting takes place outdoors, so choose comfortable clothing suitable for the weather. Layers are useful when conditions change, while a waterproof jacket will help you stay comfortable on a damp day.
Wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear with a good grip. Outdoor surfaces can become wet or muddy, so walking boots or similar practical footwear are a sensible choice. Clothing should allow you to move your arms and shoulders freely without feeling restricted.
If you are attending your first session and have questions about what to bring, ask us beforehand. You do not need specialist shooting clothing to enjoy an introductory experience.
Café and Refreshments During Your Visit
The independently managed on-site café offers an opportunity to enjoy something to eat and drink around your shooting session. It is also a welcoming place to catch up with friends, family or colleagues before or after your time on the shooting ground.
Food and refreshments are charged separately from shooting activities unless your chosen package specifically states that they are included. If you would like to make a meal part of your visit, please check café availability when arranging your booking.
For dietary requirements or food allergies, check directly with the catering team before ordering. This allows them to explain the available options and answer questions about ingredients.
Shooting Ground Facilities and Accessibility
We want visitors to feel comfortable asking about access before booking. Although key visitor areas have wheelchair access, it is helpful to discuss the requirements of your shooting session separately.
Please contact Guns & Clays if you use a wheelchair, have limited mobility or need assistance moving between visitor areas and shooting positions. Tell us what would make your visit easier so we can discuss the arrangements and suitability of the planned activity.
You can also ask about access to the café and toilet facilities. Discussing your needs in advance helps you decide whether the visit is right for you.
Visiting with Friends, Family or Colleagues
A clay shooting session can be an enjoyable way to spend time together, whether you are celebrating an occasion or organising a group outing in Cambridgeshire.
When booking, let us know how many people will be shooting and whether anyone plans to accompany the group without taking part. Please confirm arrangements for accompanying visitors in advance, particularly if your party includes children or anyone who needs additional support.
Combining your shooting session with refreshments can give everyone time to relax and share their experiences afterwards.
Arriving Ready for Your Session
Allow enough travelling time to arrive at the time stated in your booking information. If you are delayed, contact us as soon as possible so we know when to expect you.
Before shooting begins, listen carefully to your instructor's safety briefing and ask about anything you do not understand. Follow the instructions given throughout your visit, including where to wait and when to move between shooting positions.
For further information about the sport, visit the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA).
