Leave the Car in London
London to Cambridge by Train
Two main London terminals give you a straightforward route into Cambridge. Choose a train that leaves enough time for your onward taxi, breakfast and arrival before your booked shooting session.
From London King’s Cross
Great Northern offers direct trains to Cambridge. Some services continue to Cambridge North, which can be convenient for the onward drive to the shooting ground.
Fare guide: allow roughly £30–£50 per adult for an off-peak return as a planning budget. Your actual ticket may cost less or more.

Greater Anglia runs direct services to Cambridge, with some trains also serving Cambridge North. Compare the stopping pattern before booking.
Fare guide: Greater Anglia advertises London–Cambridge Advance singles from £8, subject to availability. Two available £8 singles would make a £16 return.
Compare Greater Anglia Tickets ↗Regular services operate during the week and at weekends. Exact departures, frequency and fares depend on your travel date and ticket. Check Saturday and Sunday engineering work before booking. These are journey-time guides, not a fixed timetable. Advance tickets normally tie you to a particular train.

The Final Part of Your Journey
From the Station to the Shooting Ground
A pre-booked taxi makes the final part of your journey straightforward. Compare Cambridge and Cambridge North against the trains available for your visit.
| Arrival Station | Allow for the Drive | Uber / Private Hire Budget | Taxi Budget |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cambridge | 25–40 minutes | £30–£45 each way | £35–£55 each way |
| Cambridge North | 20–35 minutes | £25–£40 each way | £30–£50 each way |
Indicative planning estimates per vehicle, not per person or live quotations. These allow for the rural ground beyond Cottenham village. Traffic, demand, vehicle size and pickup arrangements affect the charge. Confirm a quote for the exact venue and arrange your return pickup in advance. Driver availability at the rural ground can vary.
Travelling together can make the transfer better value: the vehicle charge can be shared between passengers. Check passenger capacity when booking.

Give Your Driver the Correct Approach
Shooting location: Chear Fen Farm, Long Drove, Cottenham, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, CB24 8AH.
Access is via Twenty Pence Road (B1049). Do not use the Willow Grange Farm entrance on the A10. Sat nav does not always give reliable directions. Share our location and arrival directions with your driver before setting off.
An Escape by Road
Driving from London and the M25
Use these routes as a starting point, then check live navigation before leaving. The times below start at the named motorway junction or service area, rather than your London doorstep.
| Starting Point | Suggested Route | Planning Time to the Ground |
|---|---|---|
| South Mimms / M25 J23 | A1(M) north, A505 towards Royston, A10 towards Cambridge, then M11/A14 and local roads towards Cottenham. | About 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes |
| M25 / M1 J6A | M1 north to J13, A421 towards Bedford, then A428/A14 towards Cambridge and Cottenham. | About 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours |
| M25 J27 / M11 | M11 north to J14, A14 towards the north of Cambridge, then local roads towards Cottenham. | About 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes |
Broad route-planning estimates in reasonable traffic, not live journey times. Allow extra time for congestion, roadworks and the final rural approach. Your booking confirmation and arrival directions take priority over sat nav shortcuts.
Check the Map Before You Leave
Approach the ground via Twenty Pence Road and Long Drove. Do not follow a shortcut through the A10 farm entrance. Our Stonely office is for correspondence only: no shooting takes place at the office address.
