Support Independent Shotgun Information
Independent information needs independent support.
Help us investigate the questions that matter to UK shotgun users — without buying influence over the answers.
Why Support This Work?
Guns & Clays is building an independent investigation and information service for UK shotgun users.
That means asking questions, submitting Freedom of Information requests, researching official information, examining technical subjects and publishing the results in a clear form that ordinary shooters can understand.
This work takes time and, in some cases, money. Support helps us continue that work without turning the information service into an advertising-led publication or allowing any contributor to dictate what we investigate or what we publish.
Individuals Can Support
Shotgun owners, clay shooters, game shooters and anyone who values independent information can contribute.
Industry Can Support
Shooting grounds, retailers, manufacturers and equipment businesses are also welcome to contribute.
No Influence Is Sold
A contribution does not buy favourable coverage, editorial control, advance approval or protection from criticism.
Our Independence Pledge
Financial support will never determine the conclusion of an investigation.
- Supporters do not choose the answer.
- Supporters do not approve articles before publication.
- Supporters do not receive favourable treatment because they contributed.
- Commercial contributors are treated in exactly the same way as individual supporters.
- Where evidence conflicts, we will say so.
- Where we make a mistake, we will correct it.
Why Accept Support From Manufacturers?
Manufacturers and other shooting-industry businesses are part of the UK shotgun community and often possess valuable technical knowledge and experience.
We see no reason to exclude them from supporting useful independent work. The important distinction is that support may help fund the work, but it does not purchase influence over the result.
Help Us Find the Next Story
Financial support is only one way to contribute.
Some of the most valuable contributions we receive may simply be a good question, a piece of information or specialist knowledge that points us towards something worth investigating.
If there is an issue affecting UK shotgun users that you think deserves closer examination, we want to hear about it.
Suggest an Investigation
Is there something affecting shotgun owners that nobody seems to be answering properly?
Suggest a subject, question, Freedom of Information request or issue you believe deserves investigation.
Suggest a Subject →Submit Information
Have you got figures, correspondence, documents, technical information or first-hand knowledge that could help us understand a subject?
Send it to us. Information will be assessed before we rely upon it or publish conclusions based upon it.
Submit Information →Industry & Expert Input
Manufacturers, retailers, shooting grounds, instructors, gunsmiths and shooting organisations often hold specialist knowledge that deserves to be heard.
We welcome technical evidence, corrections and informed contributions from throughout the shooting industry.
Contribute Expertise →Information Is Welcome. Influence Is Not For Sale.
Providing information, expertise or financial support does not give anyone control over what Guns & Clays investigates, concludes or publishes.
We will consider information from individual shooters, manufacturers, shooting organisations, government bodies, campaign groups and anyone else with relevant evidence.
Where different sides disagree, our job is to examine the available evidence and explain the disagreement — not simply choose the contributor we like best.
You Do Not Have to Donate
Our published investigation and information work is intended to remain freely available. You do not need to make a financial contribution to suggest an investigation, provide information or read the results.
If you can support the work financially, thank you. If you cannot, a useful question, piece of evidence or simply sharing our work can be just as valuable.
Support Our Independent Work
If you value what we are doing, you can make a voluntary contribution towards the cost of research, Freedom of Information work, publishing and maintaining the information service.
There is no obligation to contribute and access to our published information is not dependent upon making a payment.

A Contribution Is Not a Purchase
Contributions support the general investigation and information work of Guns & Clays. They do not purchase a service, guarantee that a particular subject will be investigated or give the contributor any control over what is published.
Where appropriate, significant commercial support may be disclosed so readers can judge the information with full transparency.
